Web3 jun. 2005 · Marble is a calcareous limestone. It requires abrasive action, just like any other stone to polish it. The abrasive needs to be progressively finer. Hardware stores sell a marble polish that will restore a very pleasing shine to your clock. Just follow directions. If the clock only needs polishing as most do, this should work. Web25 mrt. 2010 · Just recently I acquired a Waterbury mantle clock with a case made of black slate and grained marble. It has an exposed escapement, jewelled pallets, and looks quite stunning. Unfortunately the clock does not run, the case has numerous small chips at the edges, and is quite dirty. The back door's hinge is also broken.
