Some of the gods and goddesses are called Olympians because they ruled the earth from their thrones on Mount Olympus. WebGreeks created art to honor the gods, but also themselves. I believe they started to create things for the gods, but then got full of themselves and proud of the work that they did. They then started to create for themselves. I think the Greeks enjoyed beauty and enjoyed wealth. Having creations or some sort of work of art was a sign of wealth.
