Web1st step All steps Final answer Step 1/2 We have given a function f ( x) = 3 x + 1 ; We have to find derivative of f ( x) using the definition of derivative. Explanation: According to definition of derivative we know that derivative of function f ( x) is defined by lim h → 0 f ( x + h) − f ( x) h Apply the concept of definition of derivative :
WebWhat is The Derivative of 1/x. Answer: We can express 1 / x as x-1. We know that (as per the power rule), If x is a variable and n is the power, then the derivative of x raised to the power n can be written as: d / dx(xn)=nxn-1. Hence, d / dx(x-1)=-1 (x-1-1) d / dx(x-1)=-1 (x-2) d / dx(x-1)= –1 / x². Therefore, the derivative of 1 / x is ...

Solution: The derivative of a function is represented by or f '(x). It means that the function is the derivative of y with respect to the variable x. Let us consider f(x) = 1/x =x-1. Then, f'(x) = n x n - 1 , where n = -1. Replacing n with -1, we get. f'(1/x) = -1 x-2 . f'(1/x) = -1/ x 2.
